Bearing in mind the importance of documentation in the digital age,we hereby present an abridged information of Okporo Zone of Misericordiae Parish, Rumuomasi of the Catholic Diocese of Portharcourt .
The Zone was created during the tenure of late Rev. Fr. Aloysuis Obi. in the 90's. The Zone as at then, was regarded as the basic Christian Community .The aim of creating the Zone is to bring the Church more closer to the people and to promote brotherhood and solidarity among members.
Okporo Zone includes Catholic faithful worshiping in Mater who resides at Rumuodara, Mgbesilaru, Elowahani, Eastwest Road, Elimgbu, Atali, Eneka, Atillery, Rumuokwurushi and people from other places who like how the Zone do things.
The Patron Saint of Okporo Zone is St Pio.Okporo Zone also identify strongly with St Peterclaver who was the first Patron Saint of the Zone,but was changed to avoid conflict of name between the Zone and their baby Parish in Rumuodara that answers the same name.
Okporo Zone is known for generosity and men and women with large heart. The great success of Okporo Zone in Mater stems from the fact that members are highly supportive, former leaders are always in communication with the present, and always in attendance at meetings

The activities of the Zone include but not limited to these :

3. Empowerment.
4. Felicitation
The Zone holds her monthly meeting every third Sunday of the month.
Venue: Knight Hall of the Church.
Time: Immediately after 8:30am Mass.
