CATHOLIC WOMEN ORGANIZATION (CWO) is the umbrella body of all the Catholic Women in the church. It is a lay society formed for devotional and mutual aid purposes for women in the catholic church. The Organizational structure of the council consists of different levels; World, National, Provincial, Diocesan, Deanery, Parish and Out station.
The CWO of our Parish Mater Misericordiae Rumuomasi, Port Harcourt is the largest Organization in the parish. This consists of the Central body with the central Executive which is the controlling body in the Parish.
The central Executive is headed by a president of the organization. The body is subdivided into groups, each headed by a group leader. The groups are as follows:

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
a. To promote the sanctity and maintain the modesty of the individual catholic mother.
b. To inculcate in members the necessity for a life of close association with our Mother Mary, which is fostered through penance, humility and almsgiving and constant fervent prayers.
c. To cooperate with one another in the upbringing of our children as good Catholic Christians, through collective and individual decision and prayers.
d. To foster the growth and propagation of the Catholic faith within and outside the Catholic community.
e. To foster Catholic principles of Education in the family and to strengthen the family through sound and moral upbringing.
f. To represent women's interest in the parish council and other lay apostolic bodies as deemed necessary.
g. To foster good relationship between the parish CWO and other sister Organizations within and outside the Diocese.
h. To instill the spirit of obedience and tolerance in all members so as to be able to live peaceably with one another.
I. To raise funds and undertake such projects as approved by our spiritual director, the Parish Priest.
MEMBERSHIP:
Membership is open to all practicing Catholic Women in the church.
MEETING DAYS: Meeting is every first Saturday of every month.
Mass is by 7:30.
General meeting is at the first floor of the parish hall, after which group meetings in various allotted areas within the church premises.
Extended Exco meeting holds Thursdays preceeding the first Saturday meeting.
