About this society
Altar Servers Association
Young servers assisting at the altar with reverence, training, and care.
As the name suggests, the simplest idea of an altar server is that they are one who serve at and around the altar. They serve the Priests during Mass and every other Liturgical celebration. They see to the care of orderliness of the various items needed for the liturgy. They are also at the service of the other liturgical ministers as well as the entire congregation of the Church during every liturgical gathering.
Hence, it is their duty to see that the liturgy is carried out in a worthy and dignified manner. The Altar Servers especially serve the Lord by ministering in the sacred liturgy here on earth in the way that the heavenly courts minister to the Lord enthroned in heaven. An altar server should seek to serve the Lord worthily and well not only when they are vested and ministering during the Mass, but they should take that desire to serve the Lord and His people with them from the altar and into their families, their classmates, and the community at large.
The ministry of Altar Servers here in Mater Parish is open to young boys and adults who desire to be drawn closer to God by being nearer to the Altar.
Requirements include, having received the Sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist, and attending a 3months probation classes and training.
